As a Senior Manager, Data Engineering, you will contribute to the design, development, and operation of data engineering capabilities that enable enterprise analytics, reporting, and decision-making. You will lead a small team of data engineers and will partner with internal and external business partners to help shape the strategic vision for data innovation and help strengthen the team's impact over time.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the design, development, and operational management of data engineering systems to support enterprise analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
- Guide the creation and maintenance of analytical data structures to enable efficient dashboarding, reporting, and analysis.
- Support the development of a centralized data warehouse, including designing and implementing data models that support self-service analytics in platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
- Define and enforce standards for data quality, monitoring, and validation.
- Oversee the delivery of data to analytics and reporting platforms used by both internal and external business partners.
- Work with cross-functional teams to define and evolve standards for data modeling, tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., SQL-based warehouses, Power BI).
- Lead data acquisition and integration initiatives, collaborating with internal and external partners to determine optimal tools, architectures, and approaches.
- Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, pipelines, and business logic to facilitate knowledge sharing and team development.
- Coordinate activities within the data engineering function, managing results through methods, resource allocation, and staffing decisions.
- Provide coaching, development, and performance management for team members.
Requirements:
- 7 years of experience in analytics with a solid foundation in data modeling and SQL.
- At least 1–2 years of leadership experience, coaching and managing team members.
- Experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms (Redshift, Synapse, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
- Working knowledge of scripting languages like SQL, Python, or similar.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Exposure to DevOps concepts (e.g., CI/CD) and Agile frameworks.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to move data analytics work forward and help to find effective, realistic solutions to strategic and operational goals.
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., DP-203, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) are nice to have.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
